How do I set up a Rank System?

Create a rank system, add and customize belt ranks, and link it to the next rank system.

1. Create a Rank System

Go to:

Settings → School Setup → Rank System → Create a Rank System

Enter a name for your rank system, such as:

  • Little Tiger

  • General

  • Basic

Then, save your rank system.

Tip: You can create multiple rank systems if your school uses different belt structures for different programs or age groups.

2. Choose How to Create Your Rank System

When creating a new rank system, you can choose one of the following options:

Create Empty Ranking System
Start with a blank rank system and add each belt manually.

Create Rank System with Default Ranks
Use NextKick’s preset ranks as a starting point and customize them to match your school’s curriculum.

3. Add and Customize Belt Ranks

After creating your rank system, you can add new belts or edit existing belts.

For each belt rank, you can customize requirements such as:

  • Testing Fee: Set the testing fee required for that specific belt rank.

  • Attendance Requirement: Set the number of class attendances a student must complete before becoming eligible to test for the next belt rank.

This allows you to manage different testing requirements and fees for each stage of your school’s ranking system.

4. Edit or Delete a Rank System

To manage an existing rank system, go to:

Settings → School Setup → Rank System

From there:

  • Click the pencil icon to edit the rank system.

  • Click the trash icon to delete the rank system.

Important: A rank system cannot be deleted if any students are currently assigned to a belt rank within that system. Before deleting the rank system, you must first update or remove the associated rank from those students.

You can update your belt ranks, testing fees, and attendance requirements at any time to keep the rank system aligned with your school’s curriculum.

5. Link to a Next Rank System

If students move from one rank system to another (for example, from Little Tiger to General), link the two systems so promotions continue into the next system.

When you create a rank system, or edit one with the pencil icon, choose the Next Rank System. Choose None if there's no next system.

Students on the last rank of a system are promoted to the first rank of the next system. The Next Rank System column in the rank system list shows how your systems are linked.

For step-by-step instructions, see How to link rank systems.
