What is the Tip System in the Rank Setup?

The Tip System allows your school to recognize and track a student’s progress, skills, and achievements within their current belt rank.

Tips can be used as intermediate milestones toward the next belt, but they can also be used to reward students for demonstrating specific skills or accomplishments during class.

For example, your school can create tips for:

  • Kicking – Awarded when a student demonstrates strong kicking techniques.

  • Punching – Awarded for proper and effective punching techniques.

  • Forms / Poomsae – Awarded for demonstrating proficiency in forms.

  • Sparring – Awarded for improvement or achievement in sparring.

  • Focus or Discipline – Awarded to recognize positive behavior, focus, or effort during class.

For example, an instructor may award a Kicking Tip when a student demonstrates excellent kicking technique or a Punching Tip when they show proper punching form.

Tips can also be used as part of your promotion requirements. A school may require students to earn specific tips before they are ready to test for their next belt.

The Tip System can be customized to match your school’s curriculum, teaching style, and promotion requirements.

How to turn on tips

  1. Go to Settings → School Setup and open the Rank system tab.

  2. Under Tip management, turn on Use tip system.

  3. Click Add tip to create each tip, such as Kicking or Forms.

To award tips to many students at once, see Bulk Actions: Check In, Promote, and Manage Students in Groups.
