Overview
Bulk Actions lets you check in, promote, award tips to, or export many students at once instead of opening each profile. It is built for the end of class and for belt-testing prep, when you need to act on a whole group in a few clicks.
Where to find it: in the left menu, go to Attendance → Bulk Actions.
The page has three parts:
Action buttons (top right): Export, Bulk Promotion, Bulk Check In, and Tip (only when your school uses tips).
Filters (middle): narrow the list to exactly the students you want to act on.
Student table (bottom): each student's rank, tips, attendance, and progress toward their next rank. The Total count above the table shows how many students match your filters.
Bulk actions can't be undone. Before you confirm, switch the first dropdown to Selected to double-check exactly who will be updated.
Filtering your list
Start by picking a rank system, then layer filters until the table shows only the students you want. Filters combine, so "Kids + Active + Not attended today" shows only active Kids students who haven't checked in yet.
Rank system tabs. The row of buttons above the table (for example Kids, Tweens, Adults, Teens, Black Belts) switches between your school's rank systems. The selected tab is highlighted in blue. Rank and Tip filters use the belts and stripes of the selected system.
Filter | What it does |
All | Switches between All (every student matching your filters) and Selected (only the students you've ticked). Use Selected to review your picks before running an action. |
Status | Shows only Active or Inactive members. |
Tag | Shows members with a specific tag, such as a lead source like "Google Search" or "Social Media Ads." |
Rank | Shows members at a specific belt within the selected rank system. |
Tip | Shows members who hold a specific tip, such as Form or Kicking. Hidden when the tip system is off. |
Not attended today | Shows only students who have not checked in today. Ideal right before a Bulk Check In. |
Testing Eligibility (80%+) | Shows only students whose Rank Progress is 80% or higher. Use it to build your next testing list. |
Search by member name | Finds a specific student within the filtered list. |
To clear a filter, set its dropdown back to its default or switch the toggle off.
Reading the student table
Each row shows where a student stands on their path to the next rank. Click a column header with an arrow to sort by it.
Column | What it shows | Example |
Checkbox | Selects the student for a bulk action. The header checkbox selects everyone in the list. | — |
First Name / Last Name | The student's name and profile photo. | Ellie Park |
Tag | The tag assigned to the member. | Google Search |
Rank System | The rank system the student belongs to. | Kids |
Rank | The student's current belt, shown with its color. | ORANGE |
Tip | Tips (stripes) the student holds, one colored dot per tip, for example black for Black Tip or blue for Kicking. Hidden when the tip system is off. | 2 dots |
Promoted Date | The date of the student's last promotion. | 01/21/2026 |
Attendances | Classes attended at this rank / classes required for the next rank. | 5/10 |
Days at Rank | Days since last promotion / minimum days required at this rank. | 265/30 |
Rank Progress | Overall readiness for the next rank, combining attendance and time at rank. Maxes out at 100%, shown in blue. | 75% |
Status | Whether the membership is Active or Inactive. | Active |
How Rank Progress is calculated. Rank Progress averages the attendance requirement and the time requirement, each capped at 100%. In the example above, Ellie has 5 of 10 attendances (50%) and has passed her 30-day minimum (100%), so her Rank Progress is 75%.
Rank Progress never goes above 100%. A student who has attended 23 of 10 required classes and passed the time minimum shows 100%, highlighted in blue, meaning they've met every requirement for the next rank.
Bulk Check In
Use Bulk Check In to record attendance for a whole class at once, for example when students forgot to use the self check-in kiosk.
Select the rank system tab for the class (for example Kids).
Turn on Not attended today so students who already checked in are hidden.
Tick the checkbox next to each student who attended, or tick the header checkbox to select everyone.
Click Bulk Check In and confirm.
Each selected student receives one attendance for today, and their Attendances and Rank Progress update automatically.
Bulk Promotion
Use Bulk Promotion after a belt test to move every student who passed to their next rank in one step.
Select the rank system tab (for example Kids).
Optional: use the Rank filter to show one belt level, or turn on Testing Eligibility (80%+) to show students ready to test.
Tick the checkbox next to each student who passed.
Click Bulk Promotion and confirm the new rank.
After promotion, each student's Rank changes to the new belt, Promoted Date becomes today, and Attendances, Days at Rank, and Rank Progress reset for the new rank.
Moving to the next rank system: students on the last rank of a rank system move to the first rank of the next rank system, if one is linked. See How to link rank systems.
Class changes: promoted students are removed from recurring classes that don't allow their new rank, starting with unpaid sessions from the next day. Classes that accept both their old and new rank keep them. To also add students to every recurring class that matches their new rank, turn on Auto-Add to Matching Classes in Settings → Schedule. It's off by default. Classes that are full or don't match other requirements, such as age, are skipped.
If some students can't be promoted: the rest are still promoted. The results window shows how many were promoted and lists the students who weren't, grouped by the reason.
Good to know: Promote one belt level at a time. Filtering by Rank first keeps students at different belts from being promoted in the same batch.
Awarding tips (stripes)
Tips are the colored stripes students earn between belts, such as Black Tip, Form, or Kicking. Each tip a student holds appears as a colored dot in the Tip column. The Tip button opens the Assign / Remove Tip window, where you add or take away tips for every selected student at once.
Turn on the tip system first. The Tip button, Tip filter, and Tip column only appear when your school uses tips. To turn tips on, go to Settings → School Setup → Rank system and switch on Use tip system under Tip management. While it's off, Bulk Actions shows no tip options.
Tick the students you want to update. The count above the table changes to Selected.
Click Tip.
Under Action, choose Assign to add a tip or Remove to take one away.
Under Select tip, check one or more tips. Your school's own tip names and colors appear here.
Click Assign (or Remove) to apply.
Assigned a tip by mistake? Select the same students, click Tip, choose Remove, and check the same tip.
Exporting the list
Click Export to download the students in your current view. The export follows your filters, so set the rank system and filters first.
Common uses: printing a testing roster, sharing an eligibility list with instructors, or keeping a record of who was promoted.
Common workflows and FAQ
Building a belt-testing list. Select the rank system, turn on Testing Eligibility (80%+), review the list, then click Export to print a roster.
Catching up on missed check-ins. Select the class's rank system, turn on Not attended today, tick the students who were in class, then click Bulk Check In.
Why don't I see a student? Check that the right rank system tab is selected and clear the Status, Tag, Rank, and Tip filters. Inactive members are hidden when Status is set to Active.
How do I review only the students I've selected? Change the first dropdown from All to Selected. The table then lists only checked students, and the count above it reads Selected instead of Total.
Why don't I see the Tip button, filter, or column? Your school's tip system is turned off. Go to Settings → School Setup → Rank system and switch on Use tip system under Tip management.
Can I undo a bulk action? No. The Bulk Actions page has no undo, so review your selection before you confirm. To fix a check-in or promotion, open the student's profile and correct it there. To take back a tip, use Tip → Remove.
What does "Total" mean? The number of students that match your current filters. It updates as you change tabs and filters.
