This guide covers how to set up payment information and manage memberships in NextKick.
1. Payment Setup & ACH Payments
Card payments work right away. To accept bank account (ACH) payments, your school first needs to connect a Stripe account:
Go to Settings → Payments → Payment Settings
Under Bank transfer (ACH), click Set up bank transfers
Follow the steps to connect or create your Stripe account
Once Bank transfer (ACH) shows as enabled, you can collect a parent's bank details in either of two ways:
At the school, by entering them on the student's Payment Info, or
By sending a Payment Update link: Accounts → Profiles → select the student → Payment Info → Share Payment Update Link
The parent enters their checking account details through the secure link. After that, membership charges are processed automatically via ACH.
Processing fees
Credit / Debit Card: up to 2.9% (processed by Bluu)
ACH / Checking Account: ~0.8% (processed by Stripe)
2. Updating Payment Information
After the initial payment setup, parents can update their payment method at any time through the NextKick app.
When they add a new card, a pop-up asks whether to use it for their autopay too.
The school can send parents a Payment Method Update link directly.
Parents can use this link to register a new Credit/Debit Card or Bank Account.
When a card is nearing its expiry date, NextKick automatically sends a reminder email.
Parents can click the link in the email to update their card information.
3. Individual Contract Periods
Even within the same membership plan, you can set or adjust each student's membership start and end dates individually. This means students with different remaining contract periods can each be configured to match their actual contract end date.
4. Individual Payment Dates
Payment date, amount, and frequency can all be configured separately for each student. Even if existing students are on different payment schedules, each one can be set up to match their current contract.
5. Sibling Discounts
You can use the same membership plan while setting a different rate for each student. For example, with the same membership plan:
First child: $179/month
Second child: $150/month
Each student's amount can be set individually. If you'd like to distinguish memberships by name, you can also create separate membership plans for each rate.
6. Add-On Memberships
Add-On Memberships are a separate category from the Main Membership, used to manage additional programs or fees. A student can maintain their main membership while also being enrolled in additional programs.
Example:
Main Membership: 6-Month Taekwondo Membership
Add-On Membership: Demo Team
Add-On Membership: private lesson, extra classes, or other monthly add-on programs
Using Add-Ons lets you clearly separate base membership fees from additional program costs, making it easy to manage students enrolled in multiple programs.
