By default, NextKick sends your school's emails from [email protected]. Once you verify your own email address, emails to your members come from your school instead. This guide shows you how to set it up and how to change it later.
| Sent from | Replies go to |
Before verification | The Email in Settings → School Setup → School info | |
After verification | Your verified sender email | Your verified sender email |
Either way, when a parent replies, the reply reaches your school.
Before you start
Use an email address you can open right away. The verification link expires in 24 hours.
Use an address on your school's own domain if you can, like [email protected]. Free addresses like Gmail or Yahoo work, but your emails are more likely to land in spam.
Step 1: Enter your sender email
Go to Settings → Communication.
Scroll to Email Sender Verification.
Type your school's email address in Sender email.
Click Send verification email.
In the Notice window, check the address and click Confirm.
Tip: If you enter a free address like Gmail, you'll see a warning that recipients may see a sender warning. You can still continue, but an address on your school's own domain is better.
Step 2: Confirm the address from your inbox
Open the inbox for the address you entered.
Find the email from [email protected] with the subject Confirm your sender email for NextKick.
Click the verification link at the bottom of the email. You'll be taken back to NextKick.
Tip: Don't see the email? Check your spam folder. The link expires in 24 hours, so if it's too late, go back to Step 1 and click Send verification email again.
Step 3: Check the status
Go back to Settings → Communication. Under Email Sender Verification, your address now shows Verified, with a Change email button next to it.
From now on, emails to your members come from this address, and replies go to it. Verification code emails still come from NextKick.
Change your sender email
To send from a different address, repeat the same steps with the new address.
Go to Settings → Communication → Email Sender Verification.
Click Change email.
Enter the new address in Sender email.
Click Send verification email, then Confirm.
Click the link in the email sent to the new address.
If the new address was verified before, the change takes effect right away and no email is sent.
FAQ
Do I have to verify a sender email? No. Without it, your emails come from [email protected], and parents' replies still go to the Email in Settings → School Setup → School info. Verifying makes your emails look like they come from your school.
Can I use a Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook address? Yes, any email address works. We recommend an address on your school's own domain, because emails from free addresses are more likely to go to spam.
Which emails use my sender email? Emails to your members, such as announcements, class reminders, and invoices. Verification code emails still come from NextKick.
What happens while my new address is waiting to be verified? Your emails are sent from the NextKick address until you click the verification link.
The verification link expired. What do I do? Go to Settings → Communication and click Send verification email again. Each link works for 24 hours.
