Why We Recommend Email Verification on Your Forms

Email verification makes sure every sign-up uses a real email the person owns, so receipts, agreements and reminders reach the right family and you don't end up with duplicate members.

When email verification is on, anyone filling out your form has to confirm their email address with a 6-digit code before they can continue. It adds one short step, and we recommend keeping it on for every form.

How it works

  1. The person enters their email on your form and clicks Verify.

  2. NextKick emails them a 6-digit code.

  3. They enter the code, and the email shows as Verified. They can then finish the form.

With verification off, a new email is accepted right away without a code.

Why we recommend keeping it on

1. It catches typos. The email on the form is where NextKick sends payment receipts, membership agreements to sign, card expiry reminders and your school's messages. One wrong letter and the family never gets any of them. A code only arrives if the email is correct, so mistakes are caught on the spot.

2. It confirms the person owns the email. Without a code, anyone can type in someone else's email. Verification makes sure billing details and messages go to the right person, not a stranger.

3. It prevents duplicate members. If the email already belongs to someone at your school, verification is how NextKick confirms it's really them and links the sign-up to their existing profile. That's why existing members' emails are always verified, even when verification is turned off.

4. It keeps your leads clean. Fake or mistyped emails can't get through, so your lead list and follow-up emails only reach real people.

When you might turn it off

Turn it off only when speed matters more than the risks above, for example a lead form at a busy open house where staff are standing by to help. Even then, existing members' emails are still verified.

Which forms let you turn it off

Form type

Email verification

Lead capture

On or off (your choice)

Membership registration

On or off (your choice)

Trial sign-up

On or off (your choice)

Custom Payment Item, Testing, Event and Product

Always on

How to check or change the setting

  1. Go to Marketing Tools → Forms.

  2. Open the form and edit it.

  3. Under Form Option, turn Email validation on or off.

  4. Save the form.

To see a form's current setting without editing it, open the form. The Email validation line at the bottom of the form details shows Enable or Disable.

Check your older trial forms. Some trial sign-up forms created around August 2025 were saved with email verification turned off. If you have a trial form from that time, open it and make sure Email validation is on.

Common questions

Will verification stop people from signing up? It adds one step that usually takes less than a minute. In return, you get a working email for every new member and lead.

The code didn't arrive. What should they do? Check the spam or junk folder, and make sure the email is spelled correctly.

I turned verification off. Why is an existing member still asked for a code? When an email already belongs to a member at your school, the code is the only way to confirm it's really them. Skipping it would create the same person twice.
