With friend referrals, each member gets their own referral code to share with friends. When a friend enters the code while signing up, NextKick records who referred them. This guide shows how to turn it on, how members share their code, and how to track referrals.
Before you start
Have a membership or trial sign-up form ready for new families. See How to Create a Sign-up Form.
Step 1: Turn on friend referral
Go to Settings → System & Security and click the Student app tab.
Scroll to Friend referral and turn on Allow friend referral.
Every member now has a referral code. If you turn it off later, the code is hidden from the student app and sign-up forms, but referrals already recorded are kept.
Step 2: Set up the share message
Under Share message, write the message members send when they tap Share on their referral code. Leave it empty to use the default message.
To add details, click a tag or type @: School name, Student first name, Referral code or Form link.
Under Linked form, choose the form friends should sign up with. Only membership and trial forms can be linked. The link opens the form with the member's referral code already filled in.
Check the Preview, then click Save.
For example: "Hi! Train with me at ${CLUB_NAME}. Sign up for a free trial here: ${FORM_LINK}"
Step 3: Members share their code
In the student app, members tap their name at the top of Home to open My Profile, then scroll to My referral code. They tap Share to send your message to a friend, or Copy to copy the code.
You can also give a member their code yourself: open their profile and click the copy icon next to Referral code.
Step 4: Friends enter the code at sign-up
When a friend signs up through a membership or trial form, they enter the code under Friend referral. If they used the shared link, the code is already filled in.
A valid code shows Code confirmed.
If the code isn't found, they can still sign up, but the referral isn't recorded.
Members can't use their own code.
Step 5: See who referred whom
Open a member's profile and look under Basic Information:
Referral code: the member's own code.
Referred by: the member who introduced them.
Referred members: everyone this member has referred.
Each sign-up form also shows Referred by in its submissions.
Step 6: Add or fix a referral yourself
New member: when you add them in Accounts → Profiles → Add Member, fill in Referred by under Friend referral.
Existing member: open their profile, click the edit icon next to Referred by, pick the member who introduced them, and click Save.
Reward your members
NextKick records who referred whom, but it doesn't give rewards automatically, since it can't know when a reward should be redeemed. Your school decides the reward and gives it yourself. For example, add store credit to the member's account or give them a coupon code.
Tip: Tell members about the reward in your share message or an announcement, so they know to share their code.
Refer another school to NextKick
Know another martial arts school that could use NextKick? When a school joins NextKick through your referral, you get up to 2 months free and they get 2 bonus months.
Your school has its own School Referral Code. When another school enters it while signing up for NextKick, your school is recorded as the referrer.
Go to Settings → School Setup.
Find School Referral Code and click the copy icon.
Share the code with the other school.
You can also click Refer & Earn at the bottom of the left sidebar to send us the school's details.
