Announcements show up in the Announcements section on the Home screen of the student app. Use them for news like school closures, upcoming events or belt test dates. This guide shows how to post an announcement and choose who sees it.
Step 1: Start a new announcement
Go to Communications → Announcements.
Click Add.
Step 2: Fill in the basic information
Title: a short headline, such as "School closed for Thanksgiving".
Keep on top: pins the announcement to the top of the list.
Show as Popup: shows the announcement as a popup when students log in to the app.
Send Push Notification: sends a push notification to the members you choose in Target Settings when the announcement is published. It isn't sent again if you edit the announcement later.
Announcement Period: the dates the announcement is shown. After the end date, it becomes Inactive.
Contents: your message. You can format text and add links and images.
Step 3: Choose who sees it
Under Target Settings, choose who should see the announcement:
Member Status (required), such as Active or On Trial
Program, Group, Rank or Tag (optional)
Under When multiple filters apply, choose Only members who match all filters (AND) or Members who match any filter (OR).
For example, to reach only black belts in the Competition Team, choose the Competition Team group and the black belt ranks, and keep AND.
Step 4: Add files and publish
Under File Attachment, add any files, such as a flyer or a schedule. You can add up to 15 files, 10MB each.
Click Create.
Step 5: Manage your announcements
The list in Communications → Announcements shows each announcement's title, views, post date, and whether it's Active. Announcements kept on top have a pin icon.
Click an announcement to see its details, including who it targets and whether the push notification was sent. Click Edit to change it, or Delete to remove it.
Tip: Click View NextKick Announcements to see news from the NextKick team.
Common questions
Why is my announcement Inactive?
Its announcement period has ended. Edit it and change the dates to show it again.
Who gets the push notification?
Only the members you choose in Target Settings.
If I edit an announcement, is the push notification sent again?
No. It's only sent once, when the announcement is published.
Should I use an announcement or a message?
