The NextKick student app is where students and parents keep up with your school. This guide shows what families can do in the app, so you can help them get started.
Before you start
Choose which sections appear in the app. See How to Customize and Preview the Student App in NextKick.
Make sure each member's email address is correct on their profile. Families log in with that email.
Step 1: Invite families to the app
Go to Accounts → Profiles.
Check the box next to each member you want to invite.
Click Actions → Send app invite.
Confirm to send.
The family gets instructions to download the app and sign in. They search for NextKick in the App Store or Google Play. They should download the student app, not the version labeled Admin.
To log in, they use the email address registered with your school. The temporary password is the part of that email before the @ sign.
Tip: Family members share one email and the same app login. Parents don't need a separate account for each child.
Step 2: Know what families can do in the app
The app opens on Home, with your school image, announcements, this week's schedule and upcoming events. The bottom tabs are Home, Schedule, Community and Learning. Everything else is in the menu (☰) at the top right. Families only see the sections you turned on in the app settings.
Area | What families can do |
Announcements | Read news you post, such as closures and testing dates. |
Schedule | See classes that are set to Visible to Students, and their own classes under My Schedule. |
Check-in | Check in from their own phone, if you turned on self check-in. |
Rank Progress & History and Attendance | See their rank progress and attendance at your school. |
Documents | See and sign documents, such as membership agreements you send through the app. |
Events | Register for belt tests and events that are open to them. |
Community | See photos, videos and posts on your community board, and message your school. |
Learning Center and Homeworks | Review videos and files, submit homework, then read your feedback. |
E-Store | Browse and buy your products, such as uniforms and gear. |
Finance | Update their card or bank account, and see invoices and store credit. |
Settings | Change notification settings and the app language. |
Step 3: Know how card updates work
When a student or parent adds a new card in the app, the app asks whether to use it for their active membership autopay too.
If they choose yes, their autopay uses the new card.
If they choose no, the card is saved, but autopay keeps using the old one.
Tip: If a family says they updated their card but autopay still failed, they may have chosen not to use the new card for autopay. See How Autopay Works & What Happens When a Payment Fails.
Step 4: See the app the way a family sees it
Open the member's profile.
Click Manage member at the top right.
Choose View Member App, then click Confirm.
The student app opens in a new window, signed in as that member. You don't need their password or a phone.
