How to Assign Homework

Create homework, choose which students receive it, and reuse assignments with templates.

Written by Ben Ryoo

Homework lets you give students practice to do at home, like a form to practice or a goal to write about. Students see it in the NextKick app and submit a written answer, with photos or videos if needed. This guide covers creating homework, choosing who gets it and using templates.

Before you start

  • Homework is part of the Learning Center, which is included in the Pro plan.

  • To assign homework by rank, set up your ranks first. See How do I set up a Rank System?

  • If you want to include videos, upload them to YouTube or Google Drive first.

Step 1: Open Homework Management

  1. Go to Learning Center → Homeworks.

  2. The Homework tab lists all homework with its Assigned Date, Due Date, Target and number Submitted.

  3. Click Create.

Step 2 (optional): Start from a template

If you've saved a template, click Load Template at the top of the form and choose one. The form fills in from the template, and you can edit anything before saving. See Save homework as a template below.

Step 3: Enter the title and instructions

  1. Enter a Homework Title (up to 100 characters).

  2. Write the instructions in Content. This is required.

  3. Add an image under Attach Image if needed (1 image, up to 10MB).

Tip: Tell students exactly what to submit, for example: "Upload a 30-second video of Taegeuk 1 Jang."

Step 4: Choose who gets the homework

Under Target, choose one option:

You can choose only one target option per homework.

Step 5: Add videos (optional)

  1. Paste a YouTube or Google Drive link under Homework Video.

  2. Click Preview to add it.

  3. Repeat as needed. You can add up to 10 videos.

Tip: Set Google Drive videos to Anyone with the link. Use YouTube if students need to watch full screen on their phones.

Step 6: Set a due date (optional)

Under Homework Schedule, choose a Due Date. Students can't submit after the due date. If you leave it empty, the homework stays open.

Step 7: Create the homework

Click Create. Students in the target see the homework in the NextKick app.

NextKick doesn't send a notification automatically. To notify students, go to Marketing Tools → Automations and create an automation with the trigger New Homework Assigned.

Save homework as a template

Use templates for homework you give often, like a weekly practice log.

  1. Go to Learning Center → Homeworks and open the Templates tab.

  2. Click Create Template.

  3. Fill in the template and save it.

Next time, click Load Template on the Create Homework form to use it.
