How Families Update Their Card in the Student App

Parents and students can add a card or bank account in the NextKick app and choose whether their autopay uses it.

Families can add or update their payment method themselves in the NextKick student app. Use this guide to walk a parent through the steps.

Before you start

Step 1: Open the menu

  1. Open the NextKick student app.

  2. Tap the menu icon (☰) at the top right. The More page opens.

Step 2: Open Payment Information

  1. Scroll to the Finance section.

  2. Tap Payment Information.

Step 3: Add the new card

  1. Tap Add New Credit Card.

  2. Enter the Card Number, Expiration Date, CVV, Card Holder Name and Zip code.

  3. Tap Save.

To pay by bank account instead, tap Add new bank account.

Step 4: Choose whether autopay uses the new card

After the card is saved, the app asks whether to use it for their active membership autopay too. Memberships they pay in person or with store credit don't change.

  • Choose yes to have autopay charge the new card.

  • Choose no to save the card but keep autopay on the current one.

Tip: If a family can't update their card in the app, send them a secure payment update link instead. See Send a Payment Update Link.

FAQ

What else is in the Finance section?

Families can also open Invoices and Store Credit there.

Why did a Payment Information pop-up appear when the family opened the app?

The app can ask families to add a payment method when they open it. They can add one right there, or tap Don't show me again for a month.

Can our staff update the card instead?

Yes. Send a payment update link, or on the membership click Actions → Change payment method. See Membership Actions menu: what each option does.

A parent added a new card, but autopay still charged the old one. Why?

They probably chose not to use the new card for autopay. On the membership, click Actions → Change payment method and select the new card. See How Autopay Works & What Happens When a Payment Fails.
