How to Customize and Preview the Student App in NextKick

NextKick allows you to customize the Student App by choosing which sections appear on the home screen and which tabs are displayed in the bottom navigation menu. You can also preview the Student App from a student’s perspective to see how the app appears

1. How to Customize the Student App

To customize the Student App, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings → System & Security → Student app.

  2. The Student app tab also has Memberships and Friend referral settings. This article covers the two layout options:

    • Home Layout

    • Bottom Tabs

  3. Adjust these settings based on your school’s preferences.


Home Layout

The Home Layout section allows you to customize the Student App’s home screen.

You can:

  • Choose which blocks appear on the Student App home screen.

  • Arrange the blocks in your preferred order.

  • Customize the home screen layout to highlight the information most relevant to your students.

Bottom Tabs

The Bottom Tabs section allows you to customize the bottom navigation menu in the Student App.

You can:

  • Choose which tabs appear in the bottom quick menu.

  • Select the navigation options you want students to access easily.

  • Customize the bottom navigation menu based on your school’s needs.

2. How to View the Student App

After applying your customization settings, you can check how the Student App appears to your students.

To access this feature:

  1. Navigate to the student’s profile.

  2. Click the blue Manage Member button in the upper-right corner.

  3. Select View Member App from the dropdown menu.

  4. You will be able to view the Student App from the selected student’s perspective.

This feature allows you to see the Student App without needing to log in through the actual Student App.

3. Important Notes

Changes Must Be Applied Before Viewing

The View Member App feature does not provide a preview of changes before they are applied.

To see how your customized layout looks, you must first apply your changes in Settings → System & Security → Student app.
​

Once the changes have been applied, you can navigate to Manage Member → View Member App to see the updated Student App from a student’s perspective.

If you want to make additional adjustments, return to Settings → System & Security → Student app, update your settings, and apply the changes again.
