Go to Settings → System & Security → Check-in and turn on Allow self check-in under From the student app.
Self check-in is off by default.
When this is on, the Self Check-in option appears on members' phones and they can check in without scanning a QR code at your front desk.
When it's off, members can only check in through the front desk kiosk or by having staff check them in.
How do I stop members from checking in when they're not at the school?
Turn on Require members to be at the school under From the student app. This is on by default.
With this setting on, self check-in only works when the member's phone is inside the radius you set. If they're at home or on the way to class, the check-in won't go through.
Below the toggle, choose the radius from the dropdown. Pick a distance that covers your building and parking area but not the surrounding neighborhood.
What radius should I choose for self check-in?
Choose a radius that covers your school building and the area right around it — usually 100 meters works well. If your school is in a large complex or shares a parking lot with other businesses, you may want a larger radius.
If you're in a dense area with other buildings very close by, a smaller radius keeps neighbors from being inside your zone.
Why can't a member check in from the app?
Check these three things in order:
Allow self check-in is turned on under From the student app.
If Require members to be at the school is on, the member is physically inside your radius and has location access enabled on their phone.
The member's status isn't in your Exclude member statuses from check-in list.
If all three are fine, check whether the member has hit a weekly, monthly or daily check-in limit. See How to Check In Students and Record Attendance.
