How to Apply for Bluu Payments: What You'll Need

What Bluu's review may ask for, what NextKick confirms by phone, signing in DocuSign, and how long approval takes.

Before your school can take card payments through Bluu, Bluu reviews your business. This guide lists what Bluu and NextKick may ask for, so you can have it ready before you apply.

Before you start

  • Bluu is for schools in the US. Schools in Canada and Puerto Rico use Stripe only.

  • NextKick works with Bluu and Stripe only. Other payment processors can't be connected.

  • If you have more than one location, each location applies separately.

Step 1: Use a business bank account

Apply with your school's business bank account. A personal account is possible, but we strongly discourage it.

Step 2: Gather your documents

  • A voided check from that bank account. Sign it. The name on it must match the name on your driver's license.

  • Your last 6 months of processing statements, if you've taken card payments before.

  • Your refund and cancellation policy.

  • A utility bill, if you're asked for one.

  • Nonprofit documents, if your school is a nonprofit.

Tip: Put the same refund and cancellation policy in your membership agreement. Families who know how to cancel are less likely to dispute a charge. See Payments FAQ: Deposits, Fees, Card Terminals and Chargebacks.

Step 3: Prepare for Bluu's review questions

Bluu's underwriting team may ask about:

  • Your chargeback history

  • Whether a payment processor has ever terminated your account

  • Any FTC complaints about your business

  • Your refund and cancellation policy

  • Your last 6 months of processing statements

Step 4: Confirm your details with NextKick

NextKick may call you to confirm:

  • Your business address. This can be your studio or your mailing address.

  • Whether your classes are in person or online.

  • Your website or social media page.

Step 5: Sign your agreement in DocuSign

After you send the signed voided check, you sign your agreement in DocuSign.

If DocuSign shows an error, try these in order:

  • Click Back and try again.

  • Open the link in a private (incognito) window, or in another browser.

  • Reopen the original DocuSign link.

  • If it still doesn't work, contact NextKick support through live chat or at [email protected].

Step 6: Wait for approval

The review takes about a week. NextKick lets you know when your school is connected.

To check, go to Settings → Payments → Payment Settings. Under Online payments, Processed by shows the processor for each payment method.

Bank (ACH) payments

Bluu can also process bank (ACH) payments, with its own review. Stripe is the other option for bank payments. To compare them and set one up, see Accept Bank Account (ACH) Payments.
