This page shows how member payments work in NextKick, from connecting a payment provider to handling failed payments. Each section gives the short version and links to the full guide.
This page is about your members' payments. For your own NextKick subscription, see How to View Your NextKick Plan and Update Your Billing Card.
Step 1: Connect a payment provider
Card and bank account (ACH) payments are processed by Bluu or Stripe, and each can use a different provider. Card payments start once your processor application is approved.
Step 2: Set your fees
In Settings → Payments → Fees, you can add a convenience fee to card and bank payments so families cover the processing cost. You can also charge late fees automatically on overdue invoices.
Step 3: Choose how each membership is paid
When you add a membership to a student, you choose one of three payment plans:
Payment plan | How it works |
Full Payment | The family pays the whole membership price at once. |
Auto Payment (autopay) | The card or bank account on file is charged automatically on each due date. |
Auto Invoice | NextKick emails an invoice 7 days before each due date. The family pays it online, or you record a cash, check, Zelle or Venmo payment. |
Step 4: Collect card and bank details
The easiest way is to send the family a payment update link. They enter their own card or bank account, and their autopay switches to it automatically. Families can also add a card in the student app, which asks whether to use it for autopay too.
Step 5: Set each student's price and dates
Every membership has its own price, start and end dates, payment day and number of payments, even when students are on the same plan. That lets you match each student's current contract and give siblings their own rate.

Sibling rates: one shared membership, or a separate membership for each child with its own price. See How to Set Up a Family Membership.
Extra programs, such as a demo team or private lessons: add a second membership with the Plan Type set to Add-on. See How to Add, Renew, or Replace a Membership.

When a payment fails
After each failed charge, the family gets an email, a text and a push notification with a payment update link. Your school gets an email and a push notification.
A failed card is retried every 2 days, up to 8 attempts (about two weeks). If all 8 fail, the membership becomes inactive. Failed bank (ACH) payments aren't retried, so you collect them with Pay Now.

FAQ
Can students on the same plan pay different amounts?
Yes. Set the price when you add the membership, or change it later with Actions → Edit billing schedule. For example, $179 a month for the first child and $150 for the second.
Can I keep a student's current contract when they move from another system?
Yes. When you add their membership, set the start and end dates, the next payment date and the number of payments left. See How to Move Your Existing Students into NextKick.
What's the difference between a main and an add-on membership?
A main membership is the student's main program. An add-on is an extra class or program on top of it, such as a demo team, so its fees stay separate.
