A membership plan is a template for a membership your school offers, such as "Kids Taekwondo – 12 Months." You set up the term, attendance limit, renewal, pricing and agreement once. After that you can add the plan to any student in a few clicks, or use it in an online sign-up form.
Create a membership plan
Go to Settings → Membership Plans
Click Create Membership
Fill in Basic Information and Billing Information, and turn on Terms and Conditions if you want members to sign an agreement
Save the plan
Basic Information
Field | What to enter |
Trial membership | Turn on if this plan is a trial. Trial plans appear in trial sign-up forms instead of membership registration forms. |
Membership type | Main for a student's primary membership, or Add-on for an extra on top of it (for example, a sparring class or private lessons) |
Sold by | Term: the member uses the membership for a set period of time. Class credits: the member buys a number of classes (1 or more), and one credit is used per check-in. |
Membership Name | The name of the plan, e.g. "Kids Taekwondo – 12 Months" |
Membership Description | Details about what the plan includes |
Membership term | No Expiry: the membership doesn't end unless it's cancelled. Fixed Term: the membership ends after a set length, e.g. 12 Months. |
Attendance Limit | Turn on Unlimited, or set the maximum number of sessions per period, e.g. 2 sessions per week |
Auto-renewal | Renews the membership automatically when it ends. See Auto-renewal settings below. |
Note: Class credit memberships can be paid in full or with autopay installments (a set number of payments; Ongoing isn't available). Auto-renewal and attendance limits aren't available for them.
Auto-renewal settings
When you turn on Auto-renewal, two more settings appear:
Setting | What it does |
Renewal Frequency | One-Time: the membership renews once, then ends. Unlimited: the membership renews every time it ends, until it's cancelled. |
Membership to Renew into | The plan the membership renews into. Choose This membership to renew into the same plan, or pick a different plan, for example to move a student from a Kids plan to an Adult plan. |
Note: Auto-renewal only applies to Fixed Term memberships. No Expiry memberships never end, so they don't renew.
Billing Information
Under Payment Type, choose Full Payment, Autopay, or both. Choosing both lets members either pay in full or pay over time.
Full Payment
Field | What to enter |
Full payment amount | The price for paying in full. You can enter a discounted price here to reward members who pay upfront. |
Tax rate (%) | Tax added to the payment. Enter 0 if you don't charge tax. |
Autopay
Field | What to enter |
Down Payment | The part of the membership price paid up front at sign-up. Use the signup fee for one-time registration charges. |
Auto payment amount | The amount of each recurring payment |
Tax rate (%) | Tax added to each payment. Enter 0 if you don't charge tax. |
Auto payment frequency | How often autopay charges, e.g. Every 1 Months |
Number of installments | How many recurring payments there are. Or check Ongoing to keep charging until the membership is cancelled (Ongoing isn't available for class credit plans). |
Charge on a fixed day every month | Check this to charge every member on the same day each month |
Billing day | The day of the month autopay runs, e.g. Day 1. A new member's first payment includes a prorated amount up to the first billing day. Applies to new sign-ups only. |
Matching autopay to the membership term:
Fixed Term plans: set the number of installments to fit within the term. Any payments left when the term ends aren't charged.
No Expiry plans: check Ongoing, so autopay continues until the membership is cancelled.
Signup Fee
A one-time registration fee charged with the first payment when a new member joins. It works with both Full Payment and Autopay, and isn't charged on renewals or recurring payments.
Field | What to enter |
Signup fee | The registration fee amount. Leave it at 0 if you don't charge one. |
Tax rate (%) | Tax added to the signup fee. Enter 0 if you don't charge tax. |
See How to Set a Signup Fee and a Fixed Billing Day for a full example.
Auto Invoice isn't set on the plan. You choose it when you add the membership to a student. See What Is Auto Invoice?
Terms and Conditions
Turn this on to require a Terms and Conditions agreement. Members must agree before continuing on a sign-up form, and you can collect a signature when you add the membership yourself (see below).
Tip: This is a good place for your cancellation policy and your late fee policy. Most states require a late fee policy to be in your written agreement with members.
Add the plan to a student
Go to Accounts → Profiles and select the student
Open the Membership tab and click Add Membership
Choose the plan and a payment plan: Full Payment, Auto Payment or Auto Invoice
The prices and renewal settings are filled in from the plan, and you can adjust any of them for this student, for example to give a sibling discount.
Collect the membership agreement
If the plan has Terms and Conditions turned on, you'll see an agreement step when you add the membership:
Click View/Edit Agreement to review the agreement, and edit it for this student if needed
Under Sign Agreement Via, choose one:
On-Site: enter the parent or guardian's information under Buyer Information, and have them sign in the Signature box
Member App & Email: the agreement is sent to the email address on file, and the parent reviews and signs it on their phone
Note: Payments don't wait for the signature. The down payment and autopay are processed on schedule even if the parent hasn't signed yet. Collecting the signature before the first payment is best.

Editing a membership plan
Changes to a plan only apply to new memberships. Students already on the plan keep their current terms and price.
To change billing for a student who's already on the plan, use Actions → Edit billing schedule on their membership. See Edit a Membership's Autopay Billing Schedule.
Tips
Put the term in the name, e.g. "Adult Taekwondo – 6 Months." It makes the right plan easier to find when you're adding a membership.
Offer both Full Payment and Autopay with a lower full payment amount, to encourage members to pay upfront.
Create separate plans for different rates if you want them to show under different names, e.g. "Kids Taekwondo – Sibling Rate."
Common questions
If I change a plan's price, do current students pay the new price? No. Changes only apply to new memberships. To change a current student's price, edit their membership's billing schedule.
Can I charge one student a different price than the plan? Yes. Every price can be adjusted when you add the membership to a student, and later with Actions → Edit billing schedule.
Can a plan offer both paying in full and autopay? Yes. Select both Full Payment and Autopay under Payment Type.
How do I set up autopay for a membership with no end date? Choose No Expiry as the membership term, and check Ongoing next to Number of installments. Autopay continues until the membership is cancelled.
Can I charge all members on the same day each month? Yes. Check Charge on a fixed day every month and choose a Billing day. A new member's first payment includes a prorated amount up to the first billing day.
Does changing the billing day affect current members? No. It applies to new sign-ups only. Existing members keep their current billing day.
What's the difference between the down payment and the signup fee? The down payment is part of the membership price, paid up front. The signup fee is a separate one-time registration charge added to the first payment.
Is the signup fee charged again on renewal? No. It's charged once, with the first payment, when a new member joins.
Can a membership renew into a different plan? Yes. Turn on Auto-renewal and choose the plan under Membership to Renew into, for example to move a student from a Kids plan to an Adult plan.
What's the difference between One-Time and Unlimited renewal? One-Time renews the membership once, then it ends. Unlimited renews it every time it ends, until it's cancelled.
Why can't I turn on auto-renewal for a No Expiry membership? No Expiry memberships don't end, so there's nothing to renew.
Where do I set Auto Invoice? When you add the membership to a student. It's not part of the plan.
Can class credit memberships use autopay or auto-renewal? Yes, with autopay installments. You can split the price into a set number of payments, for example 3 monthly payments. The Ongoing option isn't available, and auto-renewal still isn't available for class credit memberships.
What's the difference between Term and Class credits? A Term membership lasts for a set period of time. A Class credits membership gives the member a number of classes, and one credit is used each time they check in.
What's the difference between Main and Add-on? Main is a student's primary membership. Add-on is an extra on top of it, such as a sparring class.
How do I offer a trial membership? Turn on Trial membership when creating the plan, then use it in a trial sign-up form.
Can parents sign the agreement from home? Yes. Choose Member App & Email when adding the membership. The agreement is sent to their email, and they can review and sign it on their phone.
Will payments be charged before the parent signs? Yes. The down payment and autopay are processed on schedule even if the agreement hasn't been signed yet.
How do new students sign up online? Create a membership registration form in Marketing Tools → Forms. For trial plans, use a trial sign-up form.
