Sibling, Family & Promo Discounts for Events (Using Coupons)

Use coupons to give sibling, family, early-bird or promo discounts on events and belt testing.

Quick answer

To give a sibling, family, or promotional discount on an event, create a coupon under Payments → Coupons with Event selected as an eligible charge, then apply the coupon code at checkout.

The event's regular price stays the same, so you don't need to edit the fee for each family. One coupon can be reused by every family that qualifies, and you can review redemptions in the Usage History tab.

How to create a coupon

  1. Go to Payments → Coupons.

  2. Click Add New Coupon in the top right.

  3. Fill in the fields below.

  4. Click Save. The coupon appears in your list and can be used right away if Coupon Active is on.

Field

What it does

Coupon Active

On = the coupon can be used now. Turn it off to pause the coupon without deleting it.

Coupon Code (required)

The code entered at checkout, e.g. SIBLING15. Keep it short and easy to type.

Coupon Name (required)

The name shown under the code in your coupon list, e.g. "Sibling Discount – Events."

Description

Optional note, e.g. who qualifies for the coupon.

Eligible charges (required)

Which charge types the coupon can discount: Membership, Event, Testing, eStore, Other. Select Event for event registrations and Testing for belt tests.

Discount Type (required)

Percentage (e.g. 10% off) or Fixed amount (e.g. $15 off).

Amount (required)

The percentage or dollar amount of the discount.

Unlimited total uses

On = no cap across all customers. Turn it off to set a maximum number of redemptions, e.g. the first 20 sign-ups.

Unlimited uses per customer

On = the same customer can use the coupon any number of times. Turn it off to limit how often each customer can use it.

Expires

Optional end date. Leave it blank for no expiry. After this date the coupon shows as Expired and can no longer be used.

Eligible charges are set by charge type, not by individual event. A coupon with Event selected can be used on any of your events, so use the expiry date to tie a coupon to one event's registration period.

Example: sibling discount for a tournament

Your tournament registration is $80, and you want each additional sibling to get $15 off. Create one coupon with these settings:

Expires

Blank, or the tournament's registration deadline

When a family registers their second child, apply SIBLING15 at checkout. The first child pays $80 and the second pays $65.

The coupon doesn't check whether a student has a sibling enrolled. Anyone with the code can use it, so share it only with qualifying families.

Managing your coupons

All coupons are listed under Payments → Coupons, with their status, eligible charges, discount, usage limits and expiry date.

  • Find a coupon: filter by type, discount or status, or search by coupon code.

  • Share a code: click the copy icon next to the code.

  • Edit a coupon: click the pencil icon.

  • Pause a coupon: edit it and turn off Coupon Active. Do this instead of deleting if you may use the coupon again.

  • Delete a coupon: click the trash icon.

  • See redemptions: open the Usage History tab.

FAQ

Should I use a coupon or lower the event price? Use a coupon. Lowering the event price changes it for everyone, while a coupon discounts only the families who use the code.

Is a belt test an event or testing? Belt tests and gradings are Testing charges. Tournaments, camps, seminars and parties are Event charges. Select both if one coupon should cover both.

Can I limit a coupon to one specific event? Coupons are limited by charge type, not by event. Set an expiry date at that event's registration deadline and share the code only for that event.

What about sibling discounts on monthly tuition? For recurring tuition, set each sibling's rate directly on their membership. See Edit a Membership's Autopay Billing Schedule.
