Choose whether families can add a credit card, a bank account (ACH), or both in the NextKick student app and through payment update links. Turning a method off hides it in both places. This guide shows where the setting is and what changes for families.

Before you start

Step 1: Open Payment Settings

  1. In the left sidebar, click Settings → Payments.

  2. Stay on the Payment Settings tab.

  3. Scroll to Student payment method registration.

Step 2: Turn methods on or off

  • Credit card: when it's on, families can add a credit or debit card in the app.

  • ACH: when it's on, families can add a bank account in the app.

Both are on by default. After you change them, click Save at the top of the page.

Tip: If you turn both off, a note reminds you that students can't register any payment method. They can still pay with methods already saved, or in person.

What changes for families

  • A method you turn off is hidden in the student app and on the payment update link page, so families can't add it there.

  • Cards and bank accounts that are already saved stay. Families can still pay with them, and autopay that uses one keeps charging it.

  • On a payment screen, families can only add methods that the charge's revenue type accepts. See How to Set Payment Methods for Each Revenue Type.

For example, with ACH turned off, the payment update link page only shows Add New Credit Card.

FAQ

A family can't add a bank account in the app or through a payment update link. Why?

Check that ACH is on here, that your school has bank transfers set up, and that ACH is allowed for the revenue type they're paying for.

Does turning a method off remove cards or bank accounts families already saved?

No. Saved methods stay, and families can still pay with them.

Can staff still add a card or bank account for a family?

Yes. Staff can still add either one in the student's Payment Info, even when that method is turned off here.
