Choose which payment methods members can use for each type of charge: memberships, events, testing, eStore and other charges. For example, you can take testing fees only at the front desk. This guide shows where the setting is and what it changes.
Before you start
You need access to Settings → Payments. See Staff Permissions: What Each Access Control Setting Covers.
The ACH column appears once your school accepts bank transfers. See Accept Bank Account (ACH) Payments.
Step 1: Open the settings
In the left sidebar, click Settings → Payments.
Stay on the Payment Settings tab.
Scroll to Payment methods by revenue type.
Step 2: Choose the methods for each revenue type
Check each method members can use for a revenue type, then click Save at the top of the page.
Method | What it means |
Credit card | Members can pay online with a credit or debit card. |
ACH | Members can pay online from a bank account. |
In-house payment | Members can choose to pay at your school, for example by cash or check. Staff then record the payment. |
Revenue type | Covers |
Membership | Membership payments |
Event | Event registrations |
Promotion Testing | Belt testing and promotion fees |
eStore | eStore purchases |
Other | Other charges. In-house payment is always on here, because members don't choose a payment method on Other invoices. |
By default, Credit card and In-house payment are on for every revenue type.
Example: to take testing fees only at the front desk, turn off Credit card and ACH for Promotion Testing and leave In-house payment on.
What these settings change
Autopay isn't affected. Autopay is set on each membership. See How Autopay Works & What Happens When a Payment Fails.
Staff can still take any payment. Turning off In-house payment only removes the option to pay in person from the student app. Staff can still record cash or check payments with Pay Now.
Sign-up forms: a method that isn't allowed for a form's items can't be turned on in that form. If no method is allowed, turn one on here first. See How to Create a Sign-up Form.
Student app: on a payment screen, families can only add methods that the revenue type accepts. To hide a method from the app entirely, see How to Choose Which Payment Methods Students Can Register.
FAQ
Will turning off Credit card for Membership stop autopay?
No. Autopay is set on each membership and isn't affected by these settings.
Why is In-house payment greyed out for Other?
Members don't choose a payment method on Other invoices, so paying in person is always available and can't be turned off.
If I turn off In-house payment, can staff still record cash or check payments?
Yes. It only removes the option to pay in person from the student app. Staff can still record cash or check payments with Pay Now.
Why can't I turn on a payment method in a sign-up form?
It's turned off for that form's revenue type here. Allow it under Payment methods by revenue type, click Save, then edit the form again.
Why don't I see an ACH column?
The ACH column appears once your school accepts bank transfers. See Accept Bank Account (ACH) Payments.
